1 dead, 1 injured after shooting at Home Depot on Detroit's west side

One person is dead and one is injured after a shooting Sunday morning near Home Depot on Detroit's west side.

The 24-year-old suspect is in custody, according to Detroit police.

A witness said the shooting happened Sunday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. after an altercation between two men inside of the Home Depot store at 7 Mile Road and Meyers Road.

Detroit police said a 23-year-old man was shot at the store. He suffered multiple non-fatal gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

"We heard three gun shots, then we heard two more go off," said witness Charles Turner. "I saw two guys running towards Home Depot and one of them was yelling at the other guy."

At this time, it is still unclear how the shooting transpired.

"It was a real surprise to hear the gun fire -- real surprise," Turner said.

Another unidentified female victim was also located in the 18600 block of Meyers, near the Home Depot store.

We're told the 24-year-old suspect and 23-year-old victim are brothers, who both lived at the home where the female victim was located.

Investigators said the two crimes are related.

"I know she's got a little, young daughter about 6 or 7 years old," Turner said.

Police are not saying how the female knew the two brothers.
