ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - A 20-year-old man has been charged in the shooting of an 18 year old at a graduation party in Roseville.
Eastpointe resident Amer Mongogna, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of felony firearm.
Last weekend, a group of three or four people was asked to leave a graduation party in the 29000 block of Calahan Road in Roseville after an apparent verbal dispute. After they left, members of that group began calling friends to join them.
The larger group returned to the party in two vehicles carrying a total of nine people - seven males and two females - ranging in ages 17-20 years old, including Mongogna.
However, Mongogna was not one of the people originally asked to leave the home, and police say there's no connection between him and the people at the home.
When the group returned to the party, they began striking people at random. That's when police say Mongogna took out a handgun and began firing.
The victim, identified as 18-year-old Clinton Township resident Luke Filary, was struck by the gunfire. He was transported to the hospital where he died.
Mongogna is being held without bond at the Macomb County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 23.
Police say they are not looking for any other suspects.
