WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - A quiet day at a local park in Warren was turned into chaos after a woman crashed her car in the parking lot on Sunday.
Halmich Park was crowded during the Labor Day weekend when a loud bang and screeching tires disrupted the day.
One witness said a car was speeding by the parking lot and hit another car, causing a chain reaction.
Police say a young woman possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol zipped through the parking lot reaching speeds of over 60 mph.
The woman hit a speed bump and lost control.
"It was a really big accident. It looked like three cars were completely totalled," said Roseville resident Ronny Chika.
At least five cars had to be towed away from the scene.
The driver got out of her vehicle to run and a group of about 10 people chased her.
"She took off, started running, some people chased her down," Chika said, saying they caught her and waited for police to arrive.
Other bystanders stepped in to help two teenage girls who were inside one of the cars and thrown from the vehicle.
They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still questioning the suspect and working to confirm if there were drugs or alcohol in her system.
