DETROIT, Mich. - A family of ten displaced by a fire in Detroit, is asking for your help.
They're now living in a tiny motel room with no idea what the future will hold for their kids.
"We are in a bad place right now, there's too many of us in this one little room," said Candance Glover, fire victim.
Everything changed in an instant.
"I was cooking, and all of a sudden there was a bad wire, it had to be a bad wire in my son’s room.”
A fire ripped through the home where Candace, Torren, and their eight children live on Friday on Pierson St.
"Somebody woke me up and said we’ve got to get in the car. The house is burnt up," said one of the couple’s eight children.
"When I found out the house is burning, I had to hurry up, and get out,” said another of the children. “I couldn't grab all I wanted to grab."
The children are going to school as usual, but come home to a motel room no bigger than 400 square feet.
"Me and him, we sleep on the floor, the baby is sleeping in here,” said Candance. “They make their way on the bed."
With no insurance, the family has no plan for what's next.
"We need help, desperately. I have a lot of children and a newborn, and we need all what we can get. I'm not turning anything down," said Candance.
Trying to keep their spirits up, they focus on what's most important.
"That could've been a tragic situation and I'm just glad we're alive, and we're glad we're alive...and we have family."
The family is working on setting up a Go Fund Me account. In the meantime if you can donate anything you can email me directly at Hannah.email@example.com.
