Police: Woman in critical condition after hit-and-run

Ferndale police want to find the person or persons responsible for a hit-and-run accident that left a 30-year-old woman in critical condition Saturday morning.

Police say Saturday morning at about 2:15 a.m., a woman was struck by a hit and run driver at 9 Mile and Woodward.

The 30 year old woman is currently listed in critical condition at the hospital with head injuries.

The suspect car is possibly a Buick Century (other possibilities included Buick Le Sabre or Mercury Sable) model year near the early 2000's. One witness described the driver as a white male with a full head of dark hair about 30-40 years old.

We are analyzing several pieces of video from businesses in the area as well as the video from a Ferndale Police car that was on a traffic stop alongside of Woodward just south of 9 Mile when the accident occurred.

Immediately after striking the woman, the driver drove right by the police car.

We are asking for information from anybody who may be able to help identify the hit and run driver. If you know something please contact Ferndale police.
