Detroit pastor's interview with Trump released

A Detroit pastor's interview with Donald Trump has been released.

- Donald Trump made a campaign pitch to black voters while visiting a Detroit church than a week ago. That same day he gave a controversial one-on-one interview to the church's Pastor -Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, and portions of that interview have been released.

Jackson of Great Faith Ministries landed this interview with Trump for his Impact TV network.

The move drew sharp criticism from ministers around the country. It sparked political drama after reports some of the questions and answers were scripted.

Some also questioned if Trump was genuine in his effort to reach out to African American voters.

But Jackson defends his decision to chat with the GOP nominee.

"He asked me -- I didn't go to him," Jackson said. "He asked me and I said, after prayer. Because I knew it was going to be a big, emotional uproar. I knew that. But real leaders have to make tough decisions, and that's what I did."

Jackson says the conversation they had after trump attended a Labor Day weekend church service touches on several issues, including police misconduct.

You can see the complete interview this Wednesday at 9 p.m. on the Impact Network.

The network says the Trump campaign had no control over the final editing.
