Michigan State Police looking to hire more women

Michigan State Police are looking to recruit more women to the force.

MSP will hold a free, information seminar October 8th for those interested. The seminar will be held at Schoolcraft College in Livonia and acquaint interested candidates with the available positions with MSP, as well as offer firsthand accounts from current female troopers.

The seminar will be held in the VisTaTech Center, Kehrl Auditorium at 10 a.m.. Space is limited for the event, so pre-registration with Trooper Marjorie Phillips is required. Email her at phillipsm7@michigan.gov.

Minimum requirements for MSP jobs include:

  • good moral character
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 21 or older
  • high school diploma or GED
  • good driving record
  • stable credit history
  • no felony convictions

Starting salary at the beginning of training is $44,000 annually with a $7,800 raise after the first year.
