ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Officials say the remains of a man who was missing since 2013 have been found by hunters in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.
Kalkaska County Sheriff Pat Whiteford says the hunters found a skeleton Sept. 11 in the woods on state land in Orange Township. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports investigators confirmed that the remains were those of 45-year-old Michael Bayne.
Whiteford says foul play isn't suspected, but cause of death will be determined by a forensic pathologist.
Bayne left his Orange Township home Aug. 26, 2013 without his vehicle, wallet or cellphone. His disappearance prompted weeks of searches by law enforcement and the public. The remains were found about three miles from Bayne's home.
