'Detonated explosive device' found by train tracks in Warren (UPDATE)

- A small explosive device appears to been set off near train tracks near Eight Mile and Hoover Friday afternoon.

Investigation teams are at the scene of the incident,  with the Detroit Bomb Squad assisting. It is being called a "detonated explosive device" by Detroit police.

Warren Mayor Jim Fouts said the explosive device went off alongside the railroad tracks between Hoover and Groesbeck. There was no damage and no injuries he said.

Fouts said the explosion's strength was that of an M-100 on his Facebook page

"At most it could best be described as a small explosion," he wrote. "However, in light of the times we live in one can never completely rule out an act of terrorism no matter how small it appears to be."
