DETROIT, Mich. - The family of a murdered man who helped so many is asking for a little help in return, so they can bury him, and move forward.
"My father was what you call a real Detroiter," said Willie Fondy, "because he helped everybody."
50-year-old Willie Foster was ambushed, shot and killed inside his collision shop Wednesday. Police are still looking for at least three suspects.
"He was a person that had a big heart," said Foster's daughter, Lolita Shannon. "And for somebody to take him I think that's just so sad."
Foster's sister-in-law, Celestine Drake, told FOX 2, "Whatever you needed, there was no hesitation. You can call him in the middle of the night if your car stopped. He's going to get up and help you fix it."
Family members left behind say Willie was a generous man, well-known in the community. They're trying to understand why someone would want to kill him.
"Everybody thought he had a lot of money. That wasn't the case," says Foster's widow, Angela. "The reason why he didn't have a lot of money is because he helped everybody."
She continued saying, "if that was the cause of his death, y'all killed him for nothing."
They hope some of the love Foster gave to others will be returned to them when they need it most. Foster's collision shop was the sole source of income for his wife and kids. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren. They're begging for anyone with tips into his death to call Detroit Police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
"If it was one of your loved ones," Drake says, "you would want someone to speak up for you. So whoever you are, if you know something, you can be anonymous, just think of it as if it were your family member."
"We need to catch these guys," says Foster's widow, "or whoever had some involvement in it."
Detroit Police say the suspects are all male. One is described as black, heavy set, and between 5'10" and 6-feet tall. The second is described as black and about 50-years-old. There is no additional description for getaway driver.
"Just know y'all took my hero from me," said Foster's son. "So if anybody know anything, please call in."
The family has created a GoFundMe account to help pay for Foster's funeral expenses.
