21-year-old Macomb man fatally stabbed by roommate

MACOMB TWP, Mich. (WJBK) - A 21-year-old man is dead after his roommate apparently stabbed him during a physical fight in their Macomb Township apartment Sunday.

According to Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, just after 1 a.m. Sunday, Sheriffs deputies were dispatched to the Northport Apartment complex, which is near Garfield Road and Hall Road, for reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, deputies found 21-year-old Brian Dequan Shepard inside the apartment with an apparent stab wound.

He was transported to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital where he later died.

Investigations indicate that the victim was at the apartment with his roommate and a couple friends when the victim and his roommate began to physically fight. At this time, there is no indication as to what started the fight.

The 26-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and is being kept at the Macomb County Jail pending charges.
