Man in pig mask holds up Troy Sonic on Halloween

- A crook used a Halloween to blend in by putting on a mask and scaring employees at a Troy Sonic. But he skipped the trick-or-treat pleasantries and went straight for the cash.

The crook pulled a mask over his face for one last trick-or-treat at Sonic on 14 Mile and John R.

"Halloween night, around 9 o'clock at night, a man with a pig mask came in armed with a handgun," Troy Police Sgt. Meghan Lehman. "It was a 6 foot tall male with a pig mask on. He was wearing a purple hoodie and purple shoes and jeans."

While that description is vivid, it WAS Halloween.

The man in the pig mask ordered the employees to the ground, got the money from the sage, and fired one shot.

Sonic wasn't very busy due to the Halloween holiday, and a thief got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe.

But just because he was wearing a mask, doesn't mean he was able to get away without a trace. Police have other ways of identifying him.

"There is DNA, fingerprints, plenty of ways to identify people," Lehman said.

There's also in store video that is not being released at this time but the cops have it.  Luckily, no one was hurt, and this pig faced thief is still on the run.

"We've definitely had issues with clown masks lately but this pig mask, that's a new one," Lehman said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Troy Police Department at (248) 524-3443.
