Police release photo of car from deadly shooting in Detroit

- The family of David Gergel wants to know why someone would be so sinister to shoot and kill their loved one.

Gergel's daughter is so emotional about her father's senseless killing that she has difficulties putting her feelings into words.

Police say earlier this month, 45-year-old Gergel  went to his former neighborhood in Detroit to collect payment for a paint job he was completing on a vehicle. As he was traveling on Woodmere there was a newer model black Cadillac partially blocking the street.

Police say Gergel blew his horn but when the Cadillac did not move, Gergel decided to drive around it. That's when police say the driver of Cadilac followed him and suddenly gunshots were fired from the Cadillac before it left the scene.

Gergel was shot in the chest but was able to drive for help before he died.

"It makes me afraid to know that if I drive around a vehicle I might get shot. That is scary," said Rene Cizio, the victim's sister.

The family believes information about the black Cadillac could help solve the crime.

"Somebody knows who owns this vehicle and that's the only way we're going to find out who killed my brother," said Cizio.

As the family holds on to memories of Gergel, his daughter Jaclyn can't help but think about the future she'll never have with her father.

"He won't walk me down the aisle or meet his grandkids.  I can't keep talking," said Jaclyn Gergel, the victim's daughter.

The family is pleading with anyone who recognizes the black Cadillac to speak up so that person can't kill again.

Anyone with information should contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP.
