Man steals charity donation jar from Westland Taco Bell

Police are looking for tips to catch a charity donation thief.

A thief swipes a donation jar from the counter at a Westland Taco Bell and the sticky-fingered suspect is caught on camera.

On Nov. 26 a man runs off with the donation box from Taco Bell at Merriman Road in Westland.

"If you drop a coin or a dollar, you could win a taco," said an employee.

Apparently this guy entered the location and didn't even buy a taco.  He also cut the cord that should've prevented of theft, waited a few minutes, and then came back and stole it.

The Taco Bell bandit probably didn't get a lot of money.  He appears to be white, close to 6 feet tall, medium build and about 60 years old.

The Taco Bell has a different donation box that is tied down. There might not be much money in it, but stealing is a felony.

And this guy may be in even bigger trouble as police are working on connecting him to other incidents.

"It looks like he may be involved in some other crimes now that we're matching up some other surveillance video," said Sgt. Robert Wilkie, Westland police.
