WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Police continue to comb through and gather evidence in the murder of a West Bloomfield mother.
She was shot in the stomach. Her body was found inside a burning car behind the former Pine Lake Elementary School.
Police say they plan to review surveillance video at the Shell gas station on Orchard Lake and Pontiac Trail showing two men filling up gasoline containers.
Two men were taken into custody but only one remains. He was arrested on an unrelated warrant but police may have him arraigned and held until they're ready to charge him with the crime that has people in West Bloomfield.
"To see it happen and to know that her son is without her now, it's sad," said a neighbor. "These are truly bad times we're living in."
A suspicious person was spotted near a boat launch prompting the Oakland County Sheriff's Office dive team to search a lake near the elementary school but they turned up nothing.
That was far from the case, the West Bloomfield home where police removed large amounts of evidence and a vehicle from Shore Crest Drive near Long Lake is a stone's throw away from where the victim lived.
An intriguing fact in a tragic story that for now has more questions than answers.
