FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) -
An alleged gun-toting granny is in trouble with the law accused of pulling on her own grandson.
She was upset at her grandson for not paying his part of the bills. So when he spent a little too long in the shower. She took matters into her own hands.
FOX 2: "Does grandma have a history of pulling guns on people?"
"I don't think," said Sgt. Baron Brown, Ferndale police. "It doesn't sound like the history is any more than battling over the bills."
And apparently on Sunday afternoon, 66 year-old Jaclyn Wedlow had enough. She thought her 22-year-old grandson was taking too long in the shower - wasting water she said.
So what did grandma do - she pulled a gun on her 15-year-old grandson and told him it was time to get his brother out.
"Pointing a loaded gun at a 15-year-old young man when you are a 66-year-old adult," Brown says. "It doesn't make any sense."
Her grandsons did what she said, got out, ran upstairs and dialed 911.
It didn't take long for police to arrive at their Ferndale house on Leroy and place the gun-wielding grandma under arrest.
"I don't want to be on camera," said a woman inside the residence.
FOX 2: "Is that your mom?"
"Yes," the woman inside said.
The boys' mother, who wasn't home at the time, chose not to talk about what happened.
FOX 2: "What did grandma have to say for herself?"
"She denied pulling a gun," Brown said. "She said she was carrying a microwave at the time, which was also located in her bedroom right next to the rifle."
It was a story prosecutors didn't buy. Wedlow faced a judge on Tuesday charged with domestic violence and felonious assault.
She posted bond and is out of jail for now, but not allowed to have any contact with her grandsons.
"Hopefully some good will come out of this," Brown said. "And they can learn how to deal with this stuff in a more constructive and peaceful way in the future."
