Police: Woman lied about being abducted and robbed in Chesterfield Township

Police say a New Baltimore woman lied about being abducted and robbed in Chesterfield Township Tuesday night.

The 31-year-old previously told investigators she was at the B&B party store on 23 Mile Road near I-94 when two armed suspects forced her into her car and made her drive to Eastpointe at Nine Mile and Gratiot. She claimed they robbed her in the car.

Police said Wednesday afternoon that no crime ever took place at the party store and that the woman was never at the location. Police said they are now seeking charges for falsely reporting a felony.

There has been no explanation by police yet about why the woman lied.

A police spokesperson that that they appreciated the tipsters and callers that shared information during the investigation.

In the woman's original story the suspects went through her purse and took her phone and whatever money she had on her. When she dropped them off, she said the suspects fled and she was not harmed.

In her police report she said the suspect who had the gun was a black male in his mid 20s with short braids and was wearing a full-body camo snow suit. The second suspect was in his mid 20s, and wore jeans, a dark-blue hoodie and a gray beanie.
