REDFORD TWP - A woman was found stabbed to death in her Redford township apartment and a suspect is being questioned about the killing.
A neighbor described the man Redford police took into custody Tuesday.
"(He was) agitated, had problems, angry," said the neighbor. “I knew he had some issues."
A 46-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in the downstairs of the Lola Manor apartments late Monday has left neighbors stunned. The suspect, 44, was arrested at the scene.
"I am devastated," said the neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. "You don't do that to anybody and somebody had to tell her mother (that) somebody murdered your child."
Redford police say they were called to the home to do a welfare check and discovered her body.
Neighbors say the woman lived there with her boyfriend and her brother. Police will not confirm which man is arrested.
"She seemed like a nice girl," the neighbor said. "She transported patients to the hospital, she worked all the time."
The neighbor added he didn't hear any arguing or fighting, but wished he did. Other neighbors wished they had gotten to know her better and are thinking of her loved ones.
"I feel bad for the family and my condolences go out to them," said another neighbor.
"This is not a random act. This is not something that we feel that the public should be in danger of," says Sgt. Kevin Crittenden of Redford police.
Although an arrest has been made, Redford police are still looking for witnesses and more information on this case to call Redford police at 313-387-2500 or crime stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
