Crooks caught on video stealing car out of Dearborn driveway

- A couple of crooks were caught on camera steal a man's car right out of his driveway in Dearborn.

The car is still missing its back window and Mohamed Hammoud says the bumper was damaged when they pushed out, but other than that he is happy to have his car back.

"This time, I knew what to expect. I just threw my arms up the air and was like, they got me again," he said.

On Tuesday morning, Hammoud walked out his front door to discover his 2016 White Scat Pack Dodge Charger had been stolen right out of his Dearborn driveway.

And it wasn't the first time.

"It doesn't matter if you park in the driveway, garage, street - if they want it, they got it. The whole process for them took two and a half minutes," Hammoud said.

What was different this time was he had security cameras installed outside his house on Barrie Street, but that didn't stop these brazen car thieves.

One guy covered his face with his hood and did the dirty work, somehow able to remove the back passenger side window.

He crawled in while his partner in crime kept a look out.

At one point the unmasked man looks right into the camera.

The car was put in neutral and pushed into the street. They hotwired it and took off into the night.

"Obviously they see cameras and they don't care, they continue to approach the house one of them (wasn't) even wear a mask. He doesn't care," he said. "Bums, thugs, they just steal and cheat for a living."

Just when Hammoud started to lose all hope, Dearborn police contacted him and told him his car was located at a house in Detroit that doubled as a chop shop.

His Charger appeared to be next in line.

Officers were able to retrieve the vehicle, but the people responsible were nowhere to be found.

Hammoud is now hoping someone recognizes the two men in the video.

He wants police to stop them before they strike again.
