WOODHAVEN, Mich. (WJBK) - Police discovered Wednesday almost 300 pounds of marijuana hidden in rail cars that contained Ford cars on their way to Detroit.
Found at the Ford Rail Distribution Facility in Woodhaven, the drugs were tucked away in the rail cars which carried Ford and Lincoln vehicles that had been imported from Mexico.
Ford employees contacted Woodhaven police, who called in HSI Detroit special agents.
Over 200 vehicles were examined by federal, state and local authorities.
"This seizure ensures that these illegal drugs will never be distributed in our communities and offers actionable intelligence that HSI and our partners can now develop into a larger probe," said Steve Francis, HSI special agent in charge.
Arrests have not yet been made, but police say they have multiple leads.
