3 students charged in alleged Dearborn Fordson football hazing case

DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - A 13-year-old Dearborn Fordson freshman was allegedly assaulted as he sat on a bench in the locker room waiting for football practice to start back on Oct. 9. 

Now three sophomores have been criminally charged as juveniles by the Wayne County Prosecutor, while one of the students is also said to have exposed himself to the victim. 

 "Call it hazing, rape, sexual harassment or whatever," said Fordson alum Mohamed Hacham. "You should not touch another person and what went on in that locker room should not be tolerated."

Hacham produces an independent online news source and has covered this story since it broke. He says he hopes these criminal charges will set an example that this type of alleged behavior will not be tolerated. 
  
He also hopes it will ignite change to prevent this from happening again. 

"Where was the staff at the time," Hacham said. "Where were the teachers? Where is someone that is watching. These are kids, not 18 or 19 year olds."

Since the allegations first surfaced, rallies and protests were held outside. The school district has maintained that they have been working with Dearborn police from the beginning, while also trying to maintaining the privacy of all parties involved. 

In a statement released on the Dearborn school webpage, the superintendent goes on to say:

"The district will continue to provide due process to address the behavior of these students and take all appropriate disciplinary actions."

The three students have been charged with one count of assault and battery.
