Canadian mom & daughter arrested for 22 lbs pot at Ambassdor Bridge

- The U.S. Customs and and Border Protection Office announced Tuesday that 22 pounds of pot were found hidden in a Canadian woman's car last week.

Officials announced in a press release that the stash of hash was found hidden in a car Thursday morning. The CBP said the driver, a 43-year-old Canadian woman, and her 24-year-old daughter arrived in Detroit at the Ambassador Bridge last Thursday.

Officers say the duo said they did not have anything to declare when they pulled up to the customs booth. The car was picked for a secondary search and that's when officers found 20 bundles marijuana hidden throughout the car.

"CBP officers rely on their training and instincts to detect suspicious activity," said Rod Blanchard, Detroit Port Director.  "I commend the CBP officers involved in stopping this shipment of drugs from reaching our streets."

The mom and daughter were both turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement HSI Special Agents for further investigation.
