DETROIT (AP) -- A 313-foot-long box of chocolate is being created as part of an effort to raise money to help improve Detroit's riverfront.
The "World's Longest Box of Chocolate" event is Wednesday night along the Detroit River outside the Renaissance Center, the home of General Motors Co. The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, GMRENCEN and chocolatier Alexandra Clark of Bon Bon Bon teamed up on the effort.
Tickets support the nonprofit conservancy. Those who go get a chance to taste chocolates including Detroit-themed creations like Better Butter Crunch, made with Better Made potato chips, and Bumpy Cake, a nod to the well-known treat from Sanders.
Organizers say they aren't aware of an existing record for a longest chocolate box, but say the 313-foot goal is symbolic. Detroit's area code is 313.
