A 4-year-old girl is recovering from a gunshot wound after getting caught in the crossfire in southwest Detroit.

The bullet hole remains in the front window of the family's home in the 5800 block of Ogden when on Friday, Sept. 9, shots rang out.

Lamia Ghalen was hit in the shoulder as she played with her cousin Malek Al Shaebi. Malek was told to run and hide under the bed, the bullet narrowly missing him.

Lamia, who had just turned 4, ran towards the kitchen bleeding. She required surgery and is now recovering, her father says.

"She's in pain, just slowly recovering," said Salah, Lamia's father. "It was very bad. It was scary for all of us - for her, for me, it was very scary."

He's hoping for any additional information in the case that could lead investigators to arrest. Police released video depicting three vehicles of interest including a new model SUV, a black sedan possibly a Cadillac and a light colored Ford Fusion.

Salah doesn't want another family to have to endure what his went through.

"We are recovering all of us," he said. "It takes time to heal. It is going to take time."

Detroit police believe it is possible the suspects may have exited the three vehicles in the police video.
