(WJBK) - The U.S. Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan teamed up to save five people from a boat fire on Lake Michigan.
The boat fire, a 31-foot Tiara Cabin Cruiser, happened near Big Sable Point Michigan, just north of Ludington on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Five people were rescued by the Good Samaritan ship, while one who suffered possible smoke inhalation, was transferred to the Ludington station Coast Guard ship which also arrived at the scene.
A Ludington Fire Department boat crew responded to the boat blaze, while one person was transported to local emergency medical services for evaluation,
The vessel sank in 75 feet of water. Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan issued a safety marine information broadcast and is continuing to monitor the situation.
