DETROIT - A Detroit church has been ransacked.
Thieves stole thousands of dollars' worth of computers and other electronics used for weekly services.
Deacon William Lamb from the New Order Missionary Baptist Church is asking why someone would be so cold-hearted and break into his house of worship at New Order Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit.
"It's just unreal," he said. "They knocked glass out and reached their hand inside, and opened up the door and went in."
Lamb says he got a call around 2:20 Monday morning that the alarm was going off. He says once the crooks got inside they forced their way into the pastor's office.
"They took his laptop, monitor and TV," said Lamb.
They also took two speakers located inside the sanctuary. Lamb believes the stolen items are valued at several thousand dollars.
"I pray for them. I hope they get caught sooner or later. From our standpoint, we're here to love and share the good news and I hope they find it in their hearts to repent," said Lamb.
Church leaders say after this break-in they are taking extra precautions to make sure nothing like this happens again.
"We're going to have surveillance out front and we're looking to try to secure parking lot. Fence it up, make it hard for them next time," said Lamb.
As police work to solve this case, Lamb says his church will not allow this un-Godly act to steal their focus.
"We're here to fellowship, and we're here to make a difference in neighborhood," he said.
