Almost ready to roll: Crews prep for 2016 auto show

Workers are preparing Cobo Hall for the 2016 North American International Auto Show.

We are just weeks away from the annual 2016  North American International Auto Show and the excitement is building.

During a 12-week period, Cobo Hall undergoes a transformation. Also remarkable is the 1,800 semi-trucks of stuff - including more than a football field worth of carpet, and the equivalent of 85 basketball courts worth of new flooring.

It is all being installed for the 750 cars featured in the show.

The press preview starts Jan. 11 and the general public can see the finished product, from Saturday, January 16 through Sunday January 24th. The show generates over $400 million of revenue for businesses.

Last year's charity preview raised more than $5 million for local charities. This year it is set for Jan. 15.

In the meantime, FOX 2's Charlie Langton takes you inside Cobo -- for a sneak peek.
