Man sentenced in death of Detroit father

- It was an emotional day in court as a man was sentenced for the murder of a Detroit father. The victim's young son cried as he was given a chance to speak in court.

Dezmen Faqua was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in the death of Christopher Reed. Faqua fatally shot Reed last June while he was waiting for food at a Wendy's drive-thru on Grand River.

The 24-year-old then took off with the victim's car and rolex watch.

Reed's mother and 9-year-old son, who was also shot during the carjacking, spoke at the sentencing.

"I thank God and the judge that not only the verdict is guilty, but saving another family from devastation. There is one demon off the street," Staveeta Reed said.

"That was a bad idea, and now I have to live with it for the rest of my life," Christopher Reed's son, Christopher Jr., said.

Faqua was also convicted of carjacking, robbery, assault and weapons charges.
