70-year-old shot at during carjacking in Highland Park

- Police are searching for a suspect after an elderly man was injured during a carjacking in Highland Park.

The 70-year-old victim was shot at when two men carjacked him around 3:30 a.m. Monday at Highland Avenue and Cortland Street, which is near the intersection of the John C Lodge Freeway and the Davison Freeway.

Police say the victim was grazed by bullets but none of the bullets actually struck him, but he was still immediately taken to the hospital. He's in good condition.

The suspects took off in his blue 2007 Chevy Trailblazer.

Marli Blackman with the City of Highland Park says no one is in custody right now and detectives are working to get a description of the suspects.

If you were in the area at that time of night and saw or heard anything, you're asked to contact Highland Park Police.
