71-year-old dies after dog mauling in Detroit

A 71-year-old woman has died Saturday after a dog mauled her at her home in southwest Detroit.

Police said at about 4 p.m., the woman's pitbull attacked her inside her home in the 2000 block of Ferdinand.

The dog bit her in the neck, knocking her to the ground, then proceeded to attack her.

The woman was discovered by a relative.

Four other dogs were found inside the home. Police are investigating how many of the dogs were involved in the incident.

Police said the dogs did not have a history of violent behavior.
