Cockroaches invade Detroit bound Greyhound bus

Roach infested Greyhound bus

The video will make you say yuck and is not for those who have weak stomachs.

Demetrius White says cockroaches invaded the Greyhound bus he and his family were on that was headed for Detroit Saturday from Columbus, Ohio.

White tells Fox 2 that he and other passengers boarded the bus in Columbus and it only took minutes for the first cockroach to appear. "Once we got on the bus, we got to riding, maybe 20 to 25 minutes, the heat came on, the roaches started coming by the driver. There were probably about a hundred roaches on the bus."

In a move to calm passengers, the bus driver pulled over in Delaware, Ohio, a suburb about 20 minutes north of downtown Columbus to let passengers get off the roach-infested bus. There, most passengers sat in a McDonalds and waited for further instructions.

Greyhound eventually made the decision to get the passengers on another bus. But they had to drive the original bus back to Columbus first before getting on another bus and continuing their journey to Detroit.

Lanisha Gibson, a spokesperson for Greyhound said this about the situation. "This particular bus may have gone a long time without being inspected properly because there were quite a few roaches and bugs on that bus. Inspections always take place before drivers operate the coach. Again this is something we're going have to look a little further into my to find out when exactly this may have occurred. But they're always inspections that take place."

The new bus that White and his fellow travelers boarded arrived safely in Detroit a little before 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.
