DPS files court injunction to halt future sickouts

- Detroit Public Schools has filed an injunction to halt future sickouts, a spokesperson confirmed to FOX 2.

The injunction will be reviewed by a judge, who will decide to uphold or deny the warning. If upheld, teachers who participate in sick-outs could face court punishment.

This filing comes on the day that 88 Detroit Public Schools were closed in wake of President Obama's visit to the city. President Obama made a trip to Detroit to tour the auto show, and DPS protesters gathered outside Cobo Center hoping to catch the president's attention. Only six schools remained open.

A handful of other sick-outs have also taken place over the course of the past few weeks. Teachers are protesting poor working, learning and building conditions.
