8-year-old boy killed in hit and run on Detroit's SW side

DETROIT (WJBK) - An 8-year-old boy was killed in a hit and run on the southwest side of Detroit Thursday.

The boy was struck at W. Fort Street and Miami when he was crossing the street sometime at 4:55 p.m. by a teal green Chevrolet Tahoe between 1999-2006, driven by a suspect in his 30s. 

A witness told police the SUV went northbound on Fort Street and went through a red light.

Detroit police are still searching for the suspect. Anyone with information should call Detroit police at 313-596-5400 in the 4th Precinct.
