91-year-old CPL holder shoots attempted robbery suspect at pharmacy

Police said a 91-year-old man shot a man they say was going to try and rob him in the parking lot of an Eastpointe pharmacy.

The 91-year-old man pulled into the Rite Aid parking lot around 10:15 am Monday and got out of his vehicle. That's when he said the suspect made him feel uneasy. He said the suspect approached him and was acting erattically, even as the victim walked away.

He warned the suspect that he was a CPL holder but it didn't stop him. When the suspect pulled out an unknown object and pointed it at the 91-year-old, the man pulled his gun and shot him.

Despite having a bullet wound in his neck, the suspect ran from the scene across Gratiot but was later arrested by Eastpointe Police.

The robbery suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Eastpointe Police are still investigating.
