SANDUSKY, Ohio - Cedar Point is making changes ahead of its 2016 season.
The new offerings were announced at the park's Winter Chill Out event. Along with the introduction of Valravn roller coaster, Cedar Point unveiled its new Sunrise Thrills Tour and Ride Warriors Club.
For the first time in Cedar Point history, the Sunrise Thrills Tour allows guests the opportunity to see what goes into "waking up" the park's roller coasters. Guests can learn more about ride safety, technical operations, start-up procedures and the rides unique passenger vehicles. The highlight of the tour will be a climb to the top of Valravn's 223-foot-tall hill for a breathtaking, panoramic view of Cedar Point.
The new Ride Warriors Club is for the ultimate Cedar Point fan. The members-only group receives exclusive park access and benefits. Inaugural members will receive their own membership card, private ride time on some of the park's most popular rides throughout the season, and access to invitation-only events.
Cedar Point also announced the removal of three rides from the amusement park. Shoot the Rapids water ride, along with two rides in Challenge Park, Skyscraper and Challenge Racing, will not reopen this summer. Cedar Point officials say the decisions were made based on guest feedback and low ridership numbers.
Valravn will be the highlight of the 2016 season at Cedar Point. Guests will climb over 20 stories before being held over the edge for four seconds as they hang, waiting for that heart-pounding moment. Then, it's a 75-mph dive STRAIGHT DOWN at a 90-degree angle as the massive trains flip upside-down through three inversions along the ride's 3,415 feet of steel track.
Cedar Point will be opening its gates to guests Saturday, May 7th.
