Snow has been falling the last six to eight hours at a pretty good. The storm is starting to lift out of the central Great Lakes, Rich Luterman said, with one last blob of snow remaining. Heavier snow fell to the north of Eight Mile and less snow south of Eight Mile.

Between 3 to 5 inches of snow fell in the counties below Eight Mile and about 4 to 8 inches north.

Today’s snow totals thus far in SE Michigan range from 6 inches in Howell to 2 inches in Monroe.

Temperatures are falling and traffic was crawling Tuesday night. Cruising speeds were at about 30 miles per hour, reports Dave Spencer.

A slow pace by traffic was enforced thanks to snow falling at a high rate that the lanes disappeared squeezing four-lane highways back to three. And even when the defroster was at full tilt, the windshield iced over.

Many of the roads were in good shape at about 10 p.m. but be mindful of the roads during the morning commute.
