Angels night volunteers keeping Detroit safe

Angels will soon be walking the streets of Detroit, working to keep the city safe.

Angels Night kicks off tomorrow night and volunteers are always needed for the annual event.

Anyone younger than 17 will have a curfew, running from 7pm tomorrow to 6am Monday and the same for Halloween night.

Any minors caught violating curfew will be given a ticket and held by police until parents or guardians pick them up.

As for adults, no putting gasoline in portable containers from now until Halloween night, except for emergencies.

The night before Halloween was once nicknamed “devil’s night” as the city erupted into hundreds of fires. In 1984 there were more than 800 fires in one night.

Last year as a result of the massive annual volunteer effort, the number of fires for the first two nights of the Angels night campaign dropped to 40.
