Another freeway shooting: Man finds bullet hole in pickup truck on I-75

A bullet hole was found in the passenger side door of a driver's F-150.

It happened when he was heading north on I-75 at 14 Mile the morning of January 11.

"I'm sure it was very scary," said Sgt. Meghan Lehman, Troy police. "We are fortunate no other cars on the road got hit."

The driver told police it happened just before 11 a.m. He thought at first a rock hit his car, but there was no road rage incidents or anything that should have led to a shooting.

Troy police is concerned because this isn't the first shooting on a Detroit area freeway in recent months.

"We are aware there has been other similar incidents in the metro area," Lehman said. "We are looking into that angle to see if this is related.

"We are investigating to see if the driver did not see another car, he didn't see much but there is some evidence we are looking into."

It is enough to make any driver a little worried - but you still have to get from point A to point B.

Troy police are advising - be aware of exactly where you are. If something happens - get to a safe spot and call 911 immediately.

"It's a strange thing and it is scary," Lehman said. "But we don't want people to be scared - be aware - be prepared."
