Apartment catches fire on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WJBK) - A two-story apartment building caught fire around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at 9370 Rutherford Street on Detroit’s west side.

No residents were harmed, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Apartment resident Taris Williams, 25, said she lost everything in the fire. She wasn't sure how the fire started but in her apartment, it began in her 2-year-old daughter's room.

"I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and my goddaughter just ran up there and the room was on fire," she said. "I lost everything, she lost everything, everything is just gone."
