Roseville Police are looking for three suspects who got away after driving into the front of a store on Gratiot

They didn't get away with anything because they encountered the armed owner inside.

It all started when three suspects backed into Motor City Pawn, smashing through the wall at 5:30 a.m. Thursday using a 2007 GMC pickup truck

But after only 30 seconds, the three suspects fled - not expecting to see the owner inside - with a gun who opened fire on them.

"He came in early, he couldn't sleep I guess, and wanted to do some paperwork," said Roseville Police Chief James Berlin. "So he was in the shop, earlier than normal catching up on some work - and was able to foil this theft."

FOX 2 stopped by Motor City Pawn in the 25000 block of Gratiot, where the suspects left a hole in the front of their building. No one wanted to talk about this ordeal but the chief is certain of one thing.

"Turn yourselves in," Berlin said. "We are going to find you; it is just a matter of time."

The police still haven't gotten a good description of the suspects, said to be three young looking men, who had their faces covered.

The pickup is tan with a cloth cover over the bed of the truck. There should be damage to the back end of the truck.

The chief said police are looking at DNA evidence and fingerprints from the scene.
