Arrangements set for Oakland County Deputy killed in line of duty

Funeral arrangements have been made for Oakland County Sheriff Deputy Eric Overall. 

Overall, 50, was killed early Thanksgiving morning when a suspect ran him down during a police pursuit.

At 12:30 a.m. Thursday at M-15 and Seymour Lake Road, police were pursuing hit him when his blue sedan hit the deputy while he was outside in his patrol car about to put up stop sticks.

A police pursuit that started in Lapeer County. A suspect walked into the Lapeer County Sheriff's Department and made threats. Because of what he said, there was an imminent danger to the public. The pursuit started there and went westbound to I-69 to southbound to M-15.

The chase then entered Oakland County. Deputy Overall was hit in Brandon Township. The suspect's car then rolled over. the suspect taken into custody. He has not been arraigned yet.

Visitation: Monday, Nov. 27 at Mt. Zion Church located at 4900 Maybee Rd, Independence Township, MI 48348 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Visitation is open to everyone.

Service: Tuesday Nov. 28 at Mt. Zion Church located at 4900 Maybee Rd, Independence Township, MI 48348. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. service starts at 11 a.m.

After the Service there will be a private procession for family and OCSO members.
