Attempted abduction reported in St. Clair Shores, parents warned

Police in St. Clair Shores are investigating the attempted abduction of a child Monday morning.

Police say a black man in his 20s stopped in the road and asked a high school student for directions. The suspect then grabbed the victim and tried to pull her into his car, a black Dodge Ram Quad cab with chrome step bars.

Police say the girl was able to fight off the suspect and got away. She ran home.

This happened in the area of Cubberness and Statler streets, which is near Princeton Elementary School.

Parents at Princeton Elementary School received an alert Monday morning after staff became aware of the report. The alert says the alleged incident happened around 7 a.m. The school is near 10 Mile Road and Little Mack Avenue.

The suspect is described as being clean shaven, and was wearing a Seahawks winter cap and a black zip-up jacket.
