Bell's to release Oberon on Monday

There are a number of signs of spring -- robins, baseball and of course, Oberon.

On Monday, Bell's Brewery will release its long-awaited Oberon wheat ale, and bars are gearing up for the celebration.

Some establishments are planning to start selling it as early as 12:01 a.m. Monday morning.

Oberon, which is brewed in Kalamazoo, is often considered a "rite of spring."

"It's a delicious beer," said Bethany Dybowski, general manager of M-Brew located in Ferndale, Mich. "It's very easy drinking, and Bell's (advertisers) are masters of advertising so everyone's looking forward to it. If you don't have it then it's like, 'Be there or be square,' basically."

A few Kalamazoo bars will actually kick off the tradition by selling Oberon on Sunday night.
