Detroit native Dr. Ben Carson officially announced he is dropping out of the GOP presidential race Friday.

Carson was speaking at the American Conservative Union Conservative Political Action Conference 2016.

"Now that I'm leaving the campaign trail," Carson said, receiving a standing ovation. "Even though I might be leaving, there's a lot of people who love me, they just won't vote for me."

He said that he will remain involved in politics and "saving our nation" with My Faith Votes, a Christian voter group of which he will head up as chairman.

When asked in the q-and-a about who he would endorse, he declined to name any of the GOP candidates.
