Big Sean, Dan Gilbert share life lessons hoping to inspire Detroit students

Detroit's Big Sean and Quicken Loans' Dan Gilbert teamed up Monday to host a discussion on business for an audience of 400 Detroit students.

The moguls gave life lessons to hundreds of middle school and high school students with the goal to inspire the next generation to dream big.

"Everybody has different hurdles so my advice is to have that unbreakable faith - believe in yourself. I feel like when you believe in yourself more than anybody that's the way to get to the place that you get to to be great," Big Sean said.

Big Sean shared his wisdom with young Detroiters as part of the rapper's mogul prep program.

The Detroit icon invited Dan Gilbert to join him for today's event as the two shared their keys to success.

"If you're afraid of failure then you're never go to take the chance to get you to where you need to be," Gilbert said. "Failure is a learning thing - you're going to be ahead."

The two native Detroiters also shared stories of their humble beginnings. Sean once spent his summers working as a telemarketer and Gilbert - delivering pizzas. Both are now at the top, appreciating the long road to get there.

"It's all about the journey," Big Sean said.
