Boil water alert canceled in Troy

The boil water alert that has affected northwest Troy for the past couple days has been canceled.

The alert was issued on Sunday after a huge water main break.

The 84-inch water main broke at about 3 a.m. Sunday on South Boulevard, west of Dequindre. This is close to the Sanctuary Lake Golf Course.

The main break caused extreme flooding in the area, closing South Boulevard between Dequindre and John R because of damage to the road.

Some neighborhoods in Rochester Hills were also under the boil water alert, but that alert was lifted in the city Monday.

The cause of the water main break is still being investigated.
