Bookstock used books and media sale in Livonia begins Sunday

Tens of thousands of books are for sale this week in Livonia.

Sunday marked the opening day for Bookstock, Metro Detroit's largest used book and media sale. The event generally draws a huge crowd of book lovers.

"We bring in books from across the community so you can find some real precious things -- some really interesting finds -- and that's why people have rushed to the doors right now to already start doing their shopping," said David Kurzmann, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council.

There are fiction, non-fiction, kids books, cook books and much more. All proceeds go to benefit literacy programs in Metro Detroit.

Bookstock continues through next Sunday at Laurel Park Place in Livonia.

"Lots and lots of books and the fact that you don't have to pay high prices -- that's what I like," said Detroit resident Jacquita Pickett. "I can get as many books as I want and not go broke."
