Bullet found in Garden City school prompts lockdown

A lockdown that was prompted after a live bullet was found inside Garden City High School has been lifted.

The school had been on lockdown for most of Wednesday morning while authorities searched the school after the bullet was found in a stairwell. K-9 units were brought in as well.

Police tell FOX 2 every single student was searched, all 1,100 of them. Every locker and classroom was also searched. Police didn't specify if they did or didn't find anything of interest, but the school district confirmed the lockdown was lifted just before 11:30 a.m.

This is the second incident of its kind this school year at Garden City High School.

Back in October 2017, a single round of ammunition was also found in a common hallway area. The school was locked down then, too. No contraband was discovered in that incident.

Garden City High School is located on Middlebelt Road near Maplewood.
