DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit firefighter was the victim of crime twice in one week.
There is security video of the suspect - but that's not all. He also left his ID behind. The man is on the run right now he told neighbors he was there to work on the house - but they didn't really buy it - neither did the firefighters who ran that guy out of here
Video shows a good look at the guy who tried to rip off a Detroit firefighter. Gary Ringer says the man broke into the house he's renovating twice -- and tried to run off with his newly installed cabinets on Tuesday.
Ringer wants him off the streets.
"I want to make sure he doesn't do this to anybody else," Ringer said.
Ringer says the man first broke into the house on Monday. He was seen in security footage holding a crowbar that he may have used to break through a window. The home security alarm scared him off, but not for long.
He's seen going back to the home Tuesday and he's even wearing the same clothes.
"The second time he cut the electricity, which would disable the alarm," Ringer said. "So he thought he had some time to work."
A neighbor called Ringer and told him the man was back at the house. Ringer dialed a few of his fellow firefighters who went to confronted the man.
"He said once again, he was doing some work - some hood work," Ringer said. "They said not on this house. And then he proceeded to run."
He left behind his car, which was towed, some tools and his ID. It is safe to say DPD has this case gift-wrapped
"Pretty much they know where he lives, they know the vehicle he was (using) and they have a hold on that vehicle," Ringer said. "And it seems that he already has a couple warrants out for his arrest already."
