Burned out car, tire pile frustrate residents

A burned out car and a pile of tires create a dangerous eyesore in one Detroit neighborhood.
:
"Scary and dangerous," said young resident Jose Rosas. "Clean it up."

Rosas, 7, described what he sees coming home from school every day, just steps away from his home.

Neighbors here on Otis street near Livernois on Detroit's southwest side say they are frustrated that the charred car has become their new neighbor.

"It's been there since Monday," said Steven Laginess.

And this burned up yard art isn't the only eyesore. A 3-month-old pile of tires lines Otis and neighbors say it keeps growing as they say their pleas to the city go unanswered.

The city says the car should have been picked up by Detroit police.

City officials say more than 50,000 tires have been cleared so far this year. And as the piles keep coming, they urge Detroiters to report illegal dumping through their "Improve Detroit" app.

But, vowing to clean this pile and another stack a block away by Wednesday night..

As for this burned up car, Detroit police promised to haul this hunk of junk, and within hours, did.
